Refer a Young Woman to Safe, Structured Housing
Our House partners with verified agencies to provide structured housing for young women ages 18–24 in Genesee County.
Who Can Refer
We accept referrals from:
✅ Licensed social service agencies
✅ Foster care and child welfare organizations
✅ Domestic violence programs
✅ Homeless service providers
✅ Case managers and social workers at verified organizations
We do not accept:
❌ Self-referrals
❌ Walk-ins
❌ Referrals from individuals (family members, friends, etc.)
Our House is a housing-focused program and is not designed for individuals requiring clinical or 24/7 supervision
Eligibility Checklist
Use this checklist to pre-screen before submitting a referral.
Must-Haves (all required)
🟩 Female, ages 18–24
🟩 Medically stable
🟩 Does not require 24/7 psychiatric or clinical supervision
🟩 Has an active case manager or agency support
🟩 Willing to follow house rules and program expectations
🟩 Working, in school, or actively working toward one of those goals
May Still Qualify (case-by-case)
🟦 History of housing instability or homelessness
🟦 Aging out of foster care
🟦 Leaving a domestic violence situation
🟦 Limited work or school history (but motivated and working toward it)
Not a Fit
❌ Active substance use crisis without a treatment plan in place
❌ Requires 24/7 psychiatric or medical supervision
❌ History of violence posing a risk to other residents
❌ Unwilling to comply with program structure and expectations
The Referral Process
1️⃣ Submit the Referral Form
Complete the referral form below. We'll review it within 2 business days.
2️⃣ Pre-Screen
We'll contact you (the referring agency) to confirm eligibility and discuss fit. This is a quick call — usually 10–15 minutes.
3️⃣ Intake Interview
If the pre-screen passes, we'll schedule an intake interview with the prospective resident (in-person or video).
4️⃣ Acceptance & Document Collection
If accepted, we'll send an acceptance letter and collect required documents before move-in.
5️⃣ Move-In
Our target is to complete the process from referral to move-in within 14 days.
We respond to all referrals within 2 business days.

We aim to review all referrals within 2 business days. You'll receive an email confirmation once we've reviewed the submission, and we'll reach out directly to discuss next steps.

We follow a five-stage intake process: referral review, pre-screen, intake interview, acceptance and pre-move-in preparation, and move-in day. Our goal is to complete this within 14 days from referral to move-in.

No. Residents do not pay anything out of pocket. Bed rent is covered through partnerships with referring agencies and nonprofit partners. We'll discuss the funding arrangement with your organization during the intake process.

Residents receive a furnished room in a real home environment with a live-in house manager.
Our House provides structured housing, accountability, and a supportive environment for daily living.
Residents may also have access to life skills opportunities, community resources, and workshops through partner organizations.
We do not provide direct case management or clinical services — we work alongside referring agencies and community partners who support each resident’s goals.

Some partner organizations may provide services or workshops onsite over time. Our House remains a housing-focused program and does not directly deliver clinical or case management services.

The typical length of stay is 6–24 months. Every resident's timeline is different and depends on their individual goals and progress toward independence.

At this time, we accept referrals from case managers, social workers, nonprofit partners, and community organizations. If a young woman is interested in the program, we encourage her to connect with a local agency who can submit a referral on her behalf.

Required documentation includes a valid ID, Social Security card, signed program agreement, house rules acknowledgment, emergency contact information, consent forms, and a personal goals form. We'll walk you through everything after the referral is accepted.

No. For the safety of our residents, the exact address is only provided after a referral has been accepted and the resident is preparing to move in.
